The 2018 State Park Free Days are here! Some suggestions are below.
Shake off the winter blues at Rockport State Park
Did your New Year’s resolution call for getting outside more? Maybe getting more exercise?
We have just the solution for your resolution! Get your legs moving and your heart pumping, while enjoying the beauty and grandeur of the old growth forest at Rockport State Park, just off the North Cascades Highway (SR 20).
Like to learn while you move? Rockport’s Deep Forest Experience offers staff-guided walks and Junior Ranger programs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Feb. 18. Sometimes, the park brings in guest speakers. On Feb. 10, Dr. Katherine Glew will talk about “Lichens and Why They’re Important to the Forest.”
Need some incentive? Participate in self-guided Healthy Hikes, and you can earn a coveted hand-carved hiking stick from artist and Senior Park Aide Don Smith. The catch? You’ll need to walk and log in 100 miles in the park before the end of the year! This year, the park has added some other incentives. Follow the link for more details!
